LINED FLAT BARK BEETLE

LINED FLAT BARK BEETLE

Placonotus zimmermanni
LINED FLAT BARK BEETLES (Laemophloeidae)

A tiny reddish beetle about 1/20th of an inch long. This beetle is flattened and lined on the elytra. It was identified with the help of experts at Bugguide. Net.

This beetle was found under the bark of fallen trees on the floodplain. In general beetles of this family live as predators under the bark of trees and branches. We would expect this beetle to be fairly common.
