This dark brown skipper has a wingspan of approximately 1 – 1 1/4 inches. The forewing of both male and female has a cascade of white spots both above and below. The male forewing has a black stigma. The female has a large squarish spot in the middle of the forewing. The hindwing is a deep purplish-brown with a row of small pale spots. The large amount of white spots in the forewing separates this from other brown skippers, such as the Dun and Northern Broken Dash.

Little Glassywing is an uncommon skipper at flowers in Fontenelle Forest. The individual shown here was photographed at Camp Brewster, Fontenelle Forest nectaring on Mountain Mint in late June.

The caterpillar is green to tan color with a black head. The host plants are grasses especially Purple-top.
