LONG-HORNED BEETLES (Cerambycidae)

This beetle is black and gray. It is 6-9mm long (1/4-1/3 inch). It has elytra with large mottled gray/white spots. It was identified by entomologists Alex Harmon and Tony Palmer.

 

It is found under the bark of hardwoods, shrubs and vines. It is expected to be common in Fontenelle Forest.

 

It is attracted to freshly cut maple and butternut trees.
