The Many-lined Carpet has a wingspan of about 1 inch. The forewing is brown with many fine parallel yellowish lines. The Antemedial and Subterminal lines are bold and white. The Postmedial Line is a wide brown band. The hindwing is tan or gray with indistinct lines and dark brown shading in the subterminal area.

 

The frequency of occurrence in this area is not known. This moth was photographed at Fontenelle Forest Nature Center in late May 2015. Adults fly from May through July and are attracted to lights. It is one of the few moths that ranges over the entire North American Continent.

 

The larva feeds on the leaves of Willow-herb (Epiloblum) and Prostrate Knotweed (Polygonum aviculae).
