This is one of many planthoppers of this genus, which can’t be safely identified to species in the field or from images like these alone. They have relatively large, transparent wings. Like other planthoppers, they feed on the juices of a variety of plants.
This planthopper is not seen often but is probably common at our two nature centers.
This treehopper lives on juices sucked from plants. It prefers oaks and hickories for its food source. There are five species in the genus Glossonotus. They are all widespread throughout eastern North America.
