The Moon-lined Moth has a wingspan of about 1.75 to 2 inches. The forewing is milky brown with warm brown shading in the subterminal area. There are 4 black spots along the costa. The fragmented AM and PM lines are obvious only at the costa. There is a blackish collar behind the head (photo B). The hindwing is the same base color with darker brown zigzag Am and PM lines. The larva is elongate and tapers at the posterior end. It is gray with blue-gray lines and brown marks and grows to 5 inches when mature. This moth was identified by volunteer experts from the BugGuide website.

The frequency of occurrence at Fontenelle Forest and Neale Woods is not known. It has been photographed once at Fontenelle Forest on August 22, 2013 coming to artificial lights.

The host plant is Honey Locust (Glenditsia triacanthus). The species overwinters as a pupa. It pupates in partly decayed organic matter on the forest floor.
