This planthopper is quite similar to the Flatid Planthopper (Ormenoides venusta) but there is more of a vein pattern in the wing on this one. The wing shape is a little different and it has a unique vein structure in the wings. Compare the wing shape with the other Flatid planthopper. Both are about 1/2 inch long. The wing shape is diagnostic among Flatid planthoppers.
This planthopper is probably common in eastern Nebraska. It is common throughout its range in eastern North America. This specimen was found in Childs Hollow of Fontenelle Forest in mid-September 2014.
The adults and nymphs are polyphagus, that is, they take juice from many different plants.
