This grasshopper is one of the first ones to be seen in early spring, because it overwinters as a nymph. Most females are green, but sometimes brown and larger than the males. Males are most often green but sometimes brown. The identification of these grasshoppers was aided by the volunteer experts at BugGuide; a lot more information and images may be found about this species on their website.

The abundance of this grasshopper in our two nature centers is yet unknown, but they are probably a common occurrence.
