This small plant bug, approximately 3/16 inch (5 mm) was photographed on ragweed on the flood plain of Fontenelle forest.  The green and black color pattern is unique.  It often appears to have white eyes.

BugGuide data suggests this bug is found from Arizona to the east coast and north to Wisconsin.  It takes juices from many species of plants with its sucking mouth part.  It is probably common in this area but is seldom seen.

This bug occurs in much of the US except for northwestern states.  It also occurs in Mexico and the Caribbean islands.
