This beetle is 2/5-4/5 ths of an inch long (10-20mm). It is a black beetle with white and yellow elytral bands. It has long antenna.

It is usually found in hickory or closely related trees. This one was found in the forest room of Fontenelle Forest. It probably emerged from hickory wood that was burned in the fireplace. We would expect it to be common in the forest.
