This caterpillar was only identifyable to genus with the help of the experts at BugGuide. The fancy “peds” define the genus, though. There are four known species in this genus. The adult is an almost uniformly colored moth, which has a triangular shape when sitting.

The abundance of this genus in our two nature centers is unknown. These images represent the only documented sighting so far.

Caterpillars feed on a wide variety of plants including Evening Primrose and the leaves of apple trees. Larvae burrow into soil to pupate.
