The Porcelain Gray moth has a wingspan of 1 to 1.5 inches. The wings are gray with many small dark gray dots and black lines. The postmedian line and the white zigzagged subterminal line are accented with black wedges on the veins. The black discal spots are solid, but are usually faint on all wings. The caterpillar is brownish-pink with dark brown marks and a dark brown line in the middle of the thorax. The head is the same background color with dark brown blotches.
The frequency of occurrence of this moth is not known. It has been photographed in early August 2015. Adults fly from May to September.
The host plants are deciduous and coniferous trees including cedar, pine, birch, elm and oak.
