RED-HEADED LEAFHOPPER

RED-HEADED LEAFHOPPER

Gyponana octolineata
LEAFHOPPER FAMILY (Cicadellidae)

This leafhopper is green with red on the front of its body, which makes him a male, probably a juvenal. The female would have red on the wings as well. The volunteer experts at BugGuide helped to identify the genus.

This specimen was photographed after sundown during a “mothing” session at Camp Brewster in mid-September 2012. Its abundance is not yet known.
