ROVE BEETLE FAMILY (Staphylinidae)

This beetle is about 1/5 inch long. It is reddish brown in color. In all members of this genus the elytra bear a longitudinal fold above the side margin. Like all rove beetles the body is elongate and slender and the elytra are short. It is reddish brown in color with a dark head. It was identified to genus by David Reed.

 

We photographed this beetle at the wetlands learning center using artificial lights.

 

It is a member of the Paedarine rove beetle subfamily.
