SAWFLY LARVA

SAWFLY LARVA

Macrophya sp.
COMMON SAWFLY (TENTHREDINIDAE)

This Sawfly larva was found feeding on Golden Glow (Rudbeckia laciniata). These larvae are very difficult to identify, even by the expert volunteers like Dr. Dave Smith at BugGuide.

The abundance of these sawflies in Fontenelle Forest and Neale Woods is yet unknown. The larvae are known to feed on specific plants.
