The Sharp-angled Carpet Moth has a wingspan of about 1 inch. The forewing is light brown with a dark brown median band that has a distinctly sharp tooth projecting backward from the otherwise straight postmedian line. The subterminal is marked by white scalloping. The black subapical patch along the costa is well defined. The hindwings are light brown with a dark discal spot.
The frequency of occurrence is not known. This moth was photographed at Fontenelle Forest Nature Center on July 23, 2013 coming to artificial lights. Adults fly from spring to early fall.
The larvae feed on various plants including bedstraw, chickweed, elm and mustard.
