24 inches long with a 41 inch wingspan. The Snowy Egret has an all white body with white plumes on the back of the neck. The bill is black with yellow or orange at the base. The legs are black and the feet are bright yellow.

The Snowy Egret is an uncommon bird at Fontenelle Forest. It can be found in wet areas particularly the Great Marsh and along Stream Trail.

Snowy Egrets wade in shallow water to spear fish and other small aquatic animals. When in flight the bright yellow feet are very noticeable. These yellow feet are sometimes called referred to as “Golden Slippers”
