Banasa calva
STINK BUG FAMILY (Pentatomidae)

A small stink bug less than 1/2 inch (10 mm) long. It is mostly brown with green legs, head and front part of thorax. Eyes are reddish and antennae are partly red. Some individuals are all green and some are all brown.

 

Its general distribution is eastern North America, west to Nebraska and Manitoba. It is probably common in this area and can be found on various trees and shrubs. It is readily attracted to lights at night.

 

Banasa calva is a generalist feeder on many shrubs and trees. It uses its proboscis to suck fluids from plant tissue. It overwinters as an adult.
