STRIPED EUDONIA

STRIPED EUDONIA

Eudonia strigalis
CRAMBID SNOUT MOTHS (Crambidae)

The Striped Eudonia moth has a wingspan of about .75 inch. The forewing is light gray with several short black longitudinal streaks in specific locations. One is near the base; 2 are side-by-side in the median area near the antemedial (AM) line; one above the postmedial (PM) line; and 6 extending across the wing between the PM line and the outer margin. The AM and PM lines are indistinct and whitish. The number and placement of black streaks distinguish it from other Eudonia and Scoparia species.

The frequency of occurrence of the Striped Eudonia in this area is not known. It has been photographed coming to bait at a mothing event at Fontenelle Forest in late August 2015. Adults fly from May to September.

The larval food is not known for certain, but is possibly roots and mosses.
