This small wasp is approximately 1/2 inch long. It is mostly black with red legs. Wings are transparent. It has a relatively large, squarish head. Antennae are multi-segmented and of medium length. The larval caterpillar of this wasp is unknown. This wasp was identified by Dr. Bob Carlson at Bug Guide.

The distribution of this wasp is unknown, except that it has been reported and recorded on Bug Guide to occur in Nebraska and Massachusetts. It is expected to be rare to uncommon in Fontenelle Forest and Neale Woods.

The larval host plant is unknown. The adults are thought to prey on flies and other insects. There are 700 known species in the genus worldwide and about 120 species in North America.
