The Three-parted Epiblema has a wingspan of approximately 5/8 inch. The forewing is gray-brown with a contrasting wide white median band that narrows slightly at the costa. The hindwing is plain dark brown. The legs are light with brown spots.

 

This moth was photographed at Camp Brewster on June 3, 2017 coming to lights. It is considered to be common in its range from Maine to Minnesota south to Florida and east Texas.

 

The larvae eat the flower heads of Great Coneflower (Rudbekia maxima).
