Catharus fuscescens
(Turdidae)

7 inches long. The Veery is reddish brown above and white below with grayish flanks, There is an incomplete and indistinct eye ring. The breast is faintly spotted with lighter spots than other Catharus thrushes.

 

The Veery is an uncommon migrant at Fontenelle Forest.

 

The Veery gets its name from its call which is a descending series of “veer” notes.
