This moth has a wingspan of 5/8 – 1 inch. The body and wings are a pale green. The forewings and hindwings have 2 rows of white, wavy lines. The caterpillar is about 3/4 inch in length. The body is brown, black and white. It is usually seen in its disguise of pieces of flower parts that it attaches to its body (see photo C).

 

This is a common moth in Fontenelle Forest and Neale Woods.

 

The caterpillar overwinters as a middle instar larva. The larval food plants are many, including asters, yarrow, black-eyed susan, goldenrod, boneset and ragweeds.
