White-faced Ibis

23 inches long with a 36 inch wingspan. The White-faced Ibis is a medium-sized wader with a distinctive long down-curved bill. The dark body is chestnut colored with a greenish cast to the wings and back. There is a white border extending on the face around the back of the eye.

 

The White-faced Ibis is very uncommon in the Omaha area. It is rarely seen at Fontenelle Forest.

 

The White-faced Ibis has a range west of the Omaha area extending to the west coast. The White-faced Ibis is the western counterpart of the Glossy Ibis that occurs in the eastern US..
