YELLOW-COLLARED SCAPE MOTH

Cisseps fulvicollis

This moth has dark brown or nearly black wings, with an orange or yellow collar and large, feathery antennae.

 

These moths are quite common at our two nature centers and may be seen from May through October, or until the first frost. The adults like to sip nectar from bonesets (Eupatorium spp.) and goldenrod (Solidago spp.)
