Click on each photo thumbnail to enlarge.

This is a small jumper with black legs and cephalothorax. The abdomen is copper colored with a white band. Photos A and B were taken in Fontenelle Forest in June, Photo C in July and Photo C was taken in October. The male is different in appearance than the female. Click here to see a female. Like other jumping spiders, they catch their prey by jumping on them. But they also can spin silk lines, which they use as safety lines when they jump.

This spider is common throughout North America and should be considered common in this area.
