Gall Wasps

Gall Wasps are a large gall making family (Cynipidae) which consists of about 1,000 species worldwide. Most of these wasps are black and very small and are associated with oak trees or rose bushes. The larvae of each species develop on a particular part of the host plant inside of a gall. Some gall wasps alternate between sexual generations and asexual generations that look different and make different kinds of galls.
