These orbweavers are highly variable in color schemes. Both were found in Fontenelle Forest during the late fall of 2011. As the name implies, they spin spider webs. The volunteers at BugGuide helped to identify specimen “A”, which was found by Kate Murphy on the upland boardwalk. Specimen “B” was photographed by Mick Szydlowski in September 2011.

 

Abundance in our two nature centers is yet unknown, but since spiders grow as the season progresses, they are most likely seen in this form and size during the late autumn.
