This female jumping spider was found in a rolled-up leaf in the planted prairie of Camp Brewster in April. It was about 6 mm long. Like other jumping spiders, it lets out a “lifeline” of a silk thread when jumping to catch prey. It was identified to species with the help of experts at BugGuide.

The occurence of this species in our two nature centers is not yet known – it was the first one photographed, as far as we know.
