A small spider, about 1/4 inch (6 mm) in body length. It is dark brown overall with yellowish legs and yellowish triangle shapes on the dorsal surface of the abdomen. This spider can be quite variable in coloration, from cream color to very dark brown. As the name implies, it is well known for the triangle shapes.
This spider is very cosmopolitan in its range, being found from coast to coast in North America, southern Russia, Europe and New Zealand. It is primarily a house spider, building its irregular webs in the corners of buildings and other man-made structures. It is considered to be common in its range so it is most likely common in this area.
The Triangulate Cobweb Spider is known to prey on many species of arthropods including flies, wasps, other spiders, pill bugs, ticks and stink bugs. The egg sac, about the same size as the spider, is made from loosely woven silk and contains about 30 eggs.
