JUMPING SPIDER FAMILY (SALTICIDAE)

A small black and white jumping spider with body length of about 5 mm.  Sometimes called Zebra spider

 

This spider was first described to science in 1757 by Carl Alexander Clerck.  It is an imported European species that is common throughout North America

 

The female shown was photographed in late September at the Fontenelle Forest Nature Center.
